But only the worth while information will lead to the success of your marketing campaign. This makes it important for you to choose the right approach and design before you go to a printer. Though there are many tricks of this marketing trade but these are the five main aspects:

  • Lifestyle – Marketing a lifestyle related to the product is the best way to go about your postcard marketing campaign. Using a lifestyle image at the top of a postcard is the best way to catch the attention of your clients. You can select a picture portraying a carefree attitude towards life, or a model with gorgeous dress or even a dude with some of the latest gadgets. If the postcards are printed in the proper manner then the visual appeal of these images makes the readers want to purchase the products instantly, and thus, gives your company a good launchpad.
  • Informative – Today’s age is an age of information. There are so many businesses around the globe that are marketing their products effectively by giving some vital information and statistics. Find out the relevant information about the benefits and dangers of the products and print them on your postcards. People take quite a notice to such type of postcards as they can learn a lot from them and use them in their personal or professional life. If the approach to the postcard is right then they can also make people buy your products. Though the approach is very simple it proves to be very effective.

  • Art – Art is one of the popular themes for marketing a product. Everyone likes a beautiful postcard and then there are some that collect such postcards. Beautiful designs and images along with a provocative marketing message and the logo of the company goes well for most marketing campaigns. But in such marketing techniques the skills of the printing agency play an important role.
  • Forms – Sending forms along with postcards is a great way to get instant clients. Sending the form will make the customers directly order for the products after reading through your benefits and exclusive offers.
  • Souvenir – Souvenir advertising containing facts and images of some important places in the city or some other facts along with your company’s message go well with the clients. This is very useful for people, and thus, they are referred to regularly.

Better Files – 7 Common Mistakes!

Every designer is taught to make their artwork press ready but hardly do they abide by this rule. As a result, a lot of time and effort is wasted and the deadline for your printing project often gets delayed. Only the printing service providers know how much hard work goes into providing high quality prints. On top of that, if there are serious mistakes in the formatting of the print-ready copies then the work just gets increased manifold. So, why not give the printers a break and send them files that will be easy to print. Here are 7 things to do while sending a work for printing:

1. Giving Detailed Specifications – While placing your order at a printing agency you know what the final work should look like. Why not enlighten the printing agency with all the detailed specifications? There are many small things that help a printing agency to give you the desired prints quickly such as trim size, number of colors, whether there is need for special printing methods such as die-cut or varnishing as well as special folding instructions. Calling up the printer and providing the information that will help him print quickly and efficiently. The more information you provide to the printing service provider the better quality of output you will get.

2. Avoiding Excessive Use of Spot Colors – Using many spot colors without knowing which ones are spot and which can be run as process can be a nightmare for the printing agency. Designers use as many spot colors as possible (sometimes even 23 of them together). Not knowing that every spot color requires a new plate increases your printing bills. Printing presses cannot handle more than 6-8 colors and there are high risks of getting unsatisfactory prints. So, the final document should be devoid of all the unwanted spot colors. Spot colors should only be used when there is the utmost need for color consistency as is the case with logos.

3. Add Bleeds – Leave a space of 1/8 inches (or larger space for die-cuts) in order to accommodate for the white border that will be used around the printed piece. If this is not done then some of the vital parts of the print might be lost and then again, the end result might look unfurnished.

4. Low Resolution or RGB Images – So many people think that web is the best way to get quality images. But there are originality as a well as screen resolution issues. While choosing the web images choose those that have a DPI of at least 300 to get good print quality. Always remember that if the images look good on screen, it doesn’t mean they will look good after printing too!

5. Proper Document Size – Many designers do not know about the proper document size. There are various things that should be accommodated for in the document such as wraps, grooves, scores and hardware. A lot of time is taken if a document has to be re-sized and re-formatted.

6. Using Similar Fonts – Most of the printers use font management systems that are unable to use TrueType and PostScript fonts together. To make the task easier, convert all the fonts to outlines before the final work is sent to the printing agency.

7. Make Decisions in Advance – There are so many times when the situation will force you to keep the vital printing decisions till the last minute. For other occasions, it is wise to have a plan made well in advance. Taking some extra time for designing and production allows you to get enough time for making the files print ready.

Checking on these vital aspects will be a blessing in disguise so that you can get the desired results that you wished for! For more learning visit our FAQ section at PrintPapa.com

How Do Bleeds Add Appeal to Artwork

If you are a novice and haven’t used any printing services to get your promotional material printed then it should always be remembered that bleeds are an important facet of printing. When taking up the printing services it is always important that you know the way a printer works. Suppose you require 4000, 320 GSM (or 14pt.) 4×6″ flyers, these are generally not printed on 4×6″ sized pages as is the common conception of most designers. They are in fact printed 8 UP on SRA3 (12.6×17.71″) cards that are bigger than the 4×6 size papers and then they are neatly trimmed into size to make them appear like 4×6 size.

What are printers bleeds?

Suppose you are ordering for an 8.5×11 flyer, it is not possible for the printer to print to the edges of the paper. So, the printers take a larger sized paper and trim it to the size ordered for. In order to produce a bleed effect for the images, fills and photos, the printing service providers extend the artwork to 3mm beyond the cutline. Many believe that for producing bleed on a 8.5×11 artwork, the length of the artwork should be 8.5″ x 11″ (i.e., same as the paper length). This is a very wrong notion because you will always need to extend the artwork by 3mm to get good bleeds.

What happens if a bleed is not added?

When an artwork is trimmed for printing it is shortened by 1 or 2mm. Though the movement looks negligible but it can cause some problems with the print output. If you do not add bleeds to an artwork then there is a 2mm white border on the sides of the print. Though it’s small it will be noticeable. One thing that should be remembered while printing promotional materials is that the texts should not be close to the trim cut line. If so happens then there is a chance that they might be cut off. You should always ensure that the text or logo is at least 5mm (in normal course) or 8mm (in case of bleeds) in from the trim/cut line.

Any promotional material that you create should be clean and clear to bear its fruits. So, sending the files in proper print ready format is always the least you can do.

How Notepads Can Be Used As a Promotional Tool

Notepads are perhaps the most innocuous and the most powerful business marketing stationery in the corporate world. Sleek yet subtle, these imbibe and reflect the very essence of marketing collateral – to promote without being overtly aggressive.

Notepads, if developed, designed and printed with care, can be one of the best lead generating ways within the firm’s repertoire. This is more important in the contemporary market situation, where the recession has not yet released its strong clutch on the finances of most of the companies, irrespective of size, budget or employee strength. Notepads, being easy on the budget to print and market and provide a good yield of sales leads and business associates, can be a great investment strategy for marketers who wish to play it safe.

So, what are the things to keep in mind to help make your notepad shine as a promotional tool for your firm? Here are a few tips:

  • Stand Out – Your notepad is your own, and it is simply not just another notepad that you use to jot things down. To make the desired impact on potential consumers, your name needs to be highlighted on the notepad. Have your company name or professional nuances written in bold and conventional fonts. It should be written such that the user can easily read the name as well as comprehend the marketing message you wish to convey.

  • Logo – The logo is one of the most important elements to have in the notepad. They not only add credibility to the notepad, but also help to make it visually appealing, re-iterating your company name and brand image wherever possible.
  • The Notepad a.k.a. Resume – Have your credentials, highlights of the company history, etc. printed on your notepad in brief. This will help you to serve as the resume or the prima facie introduction of the company to new clients. You can also have client testimonials, images of achievements, etc. printed on the back of the notepad to help improve consumer retention.

So, what kind of notepads can you put to use while using them as a complimentary hand in a business marketing campaign? A notepad can differ not only in its design and print quality but also in shape. One should be aware of the different sizes of notepads used for specific purposes, hence, while targeting the niche consumer base, use the shape that best fits the bill. Some examples may include spiral pads, cube notes (stick-ons), work desk notepads, telephone diaries, customized notepads, etc.

Apart from these, notepads can also be used as a covert marketing assignment in seminars, trade fairs and similar events – where the potential consumer or business associate may need to jot down points in the melee of information. With a stylized and well-designed notepad, your marketing war may already be half won , with you on the better side!

However, for a notepad marketing campaign to succeed and achieve what it had set out for, only a professional printing agency should be hired to do the job. While many may mistake it as a burden of an investment, flawed printing of notepads not only fail to make the mark but also leave your company and brand image looking famished and amateur. Therefore, hire a professional printing agency as a little extra invested in quality will reveal large business profits later for the firm itself!

Advantages and Disadvantages of Print on Demand

Print on Demand (POD) is a new technology that utilizes digital technology, allowing you to print even one copy of any promotional material. This technology has become very popular among many corporate houses for the sake of saving time and money both. But like all other things there are many advantages and disadvantages in this technique. It is desirable that you keep these points in mind before choosing the printing method:

Time: Any material ordered by you gets published and is ready for distribution as per the schedule set by you as opposed to the prolonged time taken by the publishers.

Copyright: You will have all the rights to the material published. You own all the materials and not the publishers. As the rights lie with you, you can use more than one Print on Demand publisher and be sure that it will not violate the copyright rules in anyway.

Customizable: You can choose any idea, caption or image that best describes your business and will communicate well to your target audience. So, no more compromises with the ideas provided by art workers at publishing houses.

Amount: You can order for only the number of promotional materials that you require and don’t have to give bulk orders to save money.

Costs: Traditional methods would cost you a fortune for small printing orders, but by using the Print on Demand technique you get a cost effective bargain.

Marketing: It is up to you to research and decide upon the marketing and promotional methods. You should set up your own marketing plans and decide upon the venues where you need to promote your products. This is important as you’ll not get any guidance from the publisher in this regard.

Varying Payments According to Needs: You should be ready to pay the amount that is required to meet the design and style standards that you have selected for your brochures, flyers, booklets, etc. Printing costs might go up or down if you want anything special.

Designing and Content: You will be the sole person responsible for the graphic designing and content development of the print materials. This is because the printers will in no case be liable for mistakes in the promotional materials that you want to print.

Print on Demand is a great method to promote your business effectively but you have to be in total control of your marketing needs and decisions.

Why Use Carbonless Forms?

With the advent of carbonless paper as a great alternative to carbon paper, the whole mess and issues related to carbon paper printing and developing copies have disappeared. And with carbonless paper gaining popularity in all sectors of the industry, both for informal as well as corporate usage, the implementation of the same technology for printing carbonless forms have also shot through the roof in recent times.

While carbonless forms might seem a larger investment, entailing a higher number of risk factors than the traditional carbon paper forms, it is a wrong notion. Even though carbon papers are still the only option considered safe by marketers, carbonless forms have a much better ROI (return on investment) value and are much more user-friendly than the traditional carbon papers. The same can also be suggested from the financial point of view, as with carbonless forms and papers in general, the savings that you make on bulk printing assignments and long-term deals is much more than what you could have attained with its traditional counterpart. And with the ROI being high, the gradual profits that you make off carbon less forms is much more than what one would make off normal carbon paper printing jobs.

What are the other benefits?

There are numerous benefits that come along with the usage of carbonless forms in your professional or informal assignments, especially, if you are intent on making it a part of your direct marketing collateral.

  • Much more convenient than traditional carbon-only forms
  • Accurate and acute while reproducing written material
  • Time-saving and can be produced within a quick turn-around time
  • Exact details and cleanliness does not diminish even with multiple copies
  • Innumerable copies of accurate and crisp customer information and other detailed information

So what are the applications of carbonless forms today?

The application of carbonless paper is not only encompassing the capabilities of conventional carbon paper, as well as going well beyond the scope of traditional format. These include a number of verticals such as medical offices, educational institutions, law offices, municipal organizations, retail outlets and financial agencies, rental companies, shipping agents and similar other players in the global industry and markets.

Carbonless papers can also be used in a variety of forms, including of bills, contracts, receipts, applications for employment, loan or invoices, prescriptions, enrollment forms and parking tickets as well as debit or credit memos from banks.

With such a wide variety of application in the contemporary industry for carbonless forms, it is obvious that this trend is the one to follow for entrepreneurs and marketers who wish to limb the ladder to success two rungs at a time! However, carbonless forms, for all their advantages, may become a sore point in any corporate campaign if it has not been produced or developed by a professional printing agency with authentic carbonless paper.

Therefore, even before you start planning strategic implementations of carbonless forms, try and find a reputed and experienced professional printing agency to develop the latter for you!

Rack Cards and Their Involvement in a Marketing Campaign

Rack cards, like all other business marketing collateral, has always been one of the top-notch promotional tools that not only help attract consumer attention but also help to find new sales for a firm. However, the difference between a rack card and a conventional marketing document is the fact that a rack card is usually printed on the finest quality paper as well as in the most innovative and stylized formats.

So, why is a rack card treated like a piece of advertisement rather than a simple document of promotional information? Because a rack card can achieve (in terms of lead generation and sales) much more than what any other regular marketing document can attain. But for this, it needs exquisite printing, excellent design overtones and targeted as well as hard-hitting promotional information. Otherwise, the whole purpose of maintaining and marketing through a rack card will go waste.

Here are some more viable tips to improve the look, feel and the impact of a rack card while using it for marketing purposes:

  • Highlight Offers – Placing an offer that consumers can’t refuse is a great idea to market your recently launched or highlighted products. Discounts, FREE give-aways or partner-label offers attract consumers like moths to light. Another potentially fruitful idea is to allow discounts or avail offers only after the consumer presents the rack-card that guarantees the same. This way, you will have better chances of brand image retention and consumer loyalty statistics.

  • Images, Images – Nothing attracts the attention of a consumer like a brilliant and suggestive image. You can use images or multiple-angle shots of your products or use models and individuals to highlight the crux of the message on your rack card. The images should summarize the benefits and the USP of the products and the company, respectively. Be very careful while selecting an image as one bad photo can ruin the whole rack card marketing campaign.
  • Rack Card as a Newsletter – Transform a rack card into a one-page newsletter, incorporating useful information, tips, guides as well as notification for important company events such as anniversaries, sales auctions, etc.

  • Professional Print – Always hire a professional printing agency to print your rack cards. This is important as you can uphold quality as well as make good on your print-specific budget with a professional print house. As a rack card’s desired functionality depends a great deal on the quality of print and the clarity of images, colors and textual matter, an amateur printing job can all but nullify the marketing advantage you wish to solicit from the rack card marketing campaign.
  • Focused Usage – Use your rack card marketing campaign in places and arenas where it has the highest potential for generating valuable leads and improving consumer conversion. For e.g. checkout counters and waiting areas are some of the places where there is usually high traffic and customers have nothing interesting to do.

The standard size for a Rackcard is 4×9. You can find standard plastic holders for this size which can be used for diaplaying the rackcards. At PrintPapa we print our rackcards on nice 14pt thick card stock with high gloss UV coating for added protection. Check it out by clicking here.

The Importance of Business Stationary in Marketing

Business stationery is something that is yet to find a clear-cut acceptance as potent marketing collateral, even though statistics and popular reaction speak otherwise. Most corporate organizations, especially, the amateur or small-scale start-up ventures, have a wrong conception of business stationery not being relevant to making a desired impact on the consumer base at all. However, they cannot be more wrong!

But what is business stationery?

Business stationery can include anything – from direct mails to letterheads, from notepads to brochures, from pamphlets to simple flyer advertisements. The scope of both the content of business stationery in a corporate dictionary as well in effecting a change of mindset within the target consumer base for the better is huge! While firms may swear by a great brochure design that has won them over, others may prefer using promotional postcards to publicize the launch of a new office.

Business stationery may not always be expensive or use financially excruciating finishes. But what is needed is clear, clean print along with innovative but eye-catching designs. Many companies make the mistake of compromising on quality for the sake of having their corporate stationery printed for cheap. This may be a costly call as most consumers and potential business associates use business stationery as a tool for mapping the company’s focus on quality, reputation and as a preview of work samples!

So how can you make the business stationery attractive?

Well, first and foremost, you need to have a good design and clear but crisp text to be written specifically for the stationery. Remember that only focused marketing strategies can help you use corporate brochures, envelopes and even letterheads as marketing collateral. And having a visually appealing design and a catchy punch-line are the basics to get right.

Thereafter, what most companies prefer skipping over, is assigning the stationery to be printed with a reputable and professional print agency. This helps avoid some of the most common issues that later block the corporate stationery from actually complementing conventional marketing techniques in a full-fledged way:

  • Use of quality paper – preferably of cotton with richer textures and a smoother feel

  • Colors also appear authentic and sharp – unlike amateur print jobs where colors often break determined spaces and blunt the impact of images or graphics on the flyer or brochure
  • Embossing and engraving, including fine print are also advantages that professional print agencies provide
  • Logo and other imagery also appear better and help you stand a league apart from the conventional crowd

Therefore, choosing how and where you develop and print your business stationery respectively, can decide on which side of the fine line called ‘success’ you stand upon. You will find a good number of professional printing agencies such as the likes of PrintPapa, that not only help develop quality marketing collateral and corporate documents, but also possess richness and finesse in printing assignments.

So, unless you are against the idea of investing less and reaping more with the help of corporate stationery as a marketing tool, brochures, flyers and even well-designed envelopes can help net the interest of a niche consumer base like never before!

Why Investing in Presentation Folder Printing is a Wise Choice

Presentation folders, like other business documents and collateral, can become a potent marketing weaponry if planned and executed to perfection. And to help you do the same, there are innumerable real-world professionals as well as online portals that offer the designing and development of sleek and suave presentation folders to help you draw the attention of potential customers.

However, what slips the attention of the enterprises as well as experienced marketing professionals is the fact that the printing of presentation folders is one of the proven areas where they can vastly improve their sales and lead generation statistics. Quality printing can not only provide the desired professional approach to your presentation folders, they would also help intensify the marketing impact on potential consumer target base or on business associates.

Even though a number of printing agencies are available – both on the web as well as through retail outlets, it is better to choose a professional agency with a majestic portfolio and an envious track record. Without these, a printing agency is as ordinary as hundreds of its rivals out there.

The immediate thought that comes to your mind is would it be wise to invest a lot in the printing of a presentation folder, when a substantial amount has already been drained in its designing and development? The answer is a thumping YES! Here is why:

  • First and foremost, the print quality of the presentation folder (the papers, the cover, etc.) decide whether the potential target base is hooked on to the folder within seconds of flipping through it or not. Bad quality paper used for printing jobs almost always put off professionals, especially, that are grainy have an ill-feeling associated with it. Hire a professional agency to solve this problem, which will prevent consumers and business partners from turning away from the very doorstep.

  • Even though costly, a professional printing agency will have the font, graphics and paragraph alignments and other allied aesthetics correct. This again helps to provide an acute professional image to the ones it’s being aimed at. Always remember that a presentation folder represents the company itself, and hence, the quality of print should never be allowed to drop!
  • Printing agencies, if properly chosen, can provide a majestic imprint and representation of the company logo and other imagery in print. This most obviously helps in the embellishment of the brand image of your enterprise, especially, if it’s a small-scale or amateur venture.

  • The last point that bolsters your decision to choose a professional printing agency, keeping monetary trivialities aside, is the bold usage of colors. If you are wise enough to allow printing agencies to function for the optimum results, especially, the colors and the finish, it will help your presentation folder to stand out on its own in the crowd!

But one should always remember that no matter how presentable and visually appealing your presentation folder is, the contents within should have substance to retain attention once you have hooked the potential clients. On the other hand, a presentation folder with the best documentation and marketing collateral can fail hands down if the design and print quality is not of the highest caliber.

PrintPapa offers heavy discounts and monetary benefits on presentation folder printing assignments. Check out the website for more information.

What Kind of Paper to Use – Gloss or Matte Finish?

When it comes to printing material, most printing agencies as well as individuals and corporate organizations are stuck on a dilemma – whether to use glossy paper or stick to matte finishes for their print assignments? This particular debate has been raging on since the initiation of gloss finishing to the printing industry only a few years back – and has industry experts and clients split over the conclusion.

Since both gloss and matte finish in print have their own set of advantages and drawbacks, there are different viewpoints to a final solution. While some consider gloss as the preferred print paper to be used, some vote in favor of matte for its strong withstanding capacity.

For the ones who seek a constructive and structured feedback on which kind of paper would be the best to use for their printing purposes, we have listed the pros and cons of each finish (gloss and matte) to help you decide better.

Gloss Finish

Why Use Them

  • Crisp and clear images and sharp enough to simulate reality
  • Shiny, luster-like finish
  • Does not turn textured when digital prints are extracted from analog ones
  • Colors remain vibrant and largely distinguishable

Why Shun Them

  • Finger marks are prominent and often destroy the fun of a photograph/print
  • Smudges appear easily
  • Finger marks or smudges cannot be cleaned easily – even soft clothes can produces scratches on the print
  • Glare forces viewing the print from select angles only

Matte Finish

Why Pick Them

  • Matte papers provide a professional outlook, especially for black-and-white prints. Hence, prints on matte finish look good for professional documents, etc.
  • Smudges and fingerprints are not easily identifiable as on glossy prints.
  • The absence of glare helps make the print viewable from any angle.

Why Reject Them

  • Photos look grainy as far as matte finish is concerned
  • Colors are subdued and at times indistinguishable
  • Issues regarding texture or patterns are prevalent for prints taken in matte finish after converting them into the digital form.

Still confused as to which print paper finish to choose? Read on.

Gloss paper finishes are best to use when your print material has a lot of photos or images. This will not only improve the impact of the printed documents but will also improve the total design.

Matte finish is best to use in prints where textual matter is dominating. This helps make the document or presentation look more professional and save your dollars too.

At PrintPapa we offer both gloss and matte (or dull) paper option for some of the products. Just choose the correct one when placing the order. The Matte paper option is available for Business Cards, flyers & Brochures, & Booklets.
